Sorry to keep harping on, but you're all saying I should stop fretting about Async when looking at the 1070 or 1080? Because if that's the case, it's hard not to get the Nvidia card since they generally have way better past-proofing with DX11 and they won't be behind on future-proofing with DX12.

So you're saying async is like a fix to already existing problems that Nvidia doesn't have. The 'bubbles'. But if that's the case why would Nvidia gpu's perform worse with async on than it does when it's off.

I still don't see how this contradicts what I said. I never said that Nvidia absolutely doesn't support async. We're talking about which one is better at it. The AMD gpu has ACE's which are apparently important for async but that's all I know.

I've heard so many times that Nvidia doesn't have a as much hardware support for async compared to AMD. And the 1080 doesn't really make any gains when DX12 mode is turned on. So I assume async is still a bit meh.

I'm banking on this. I don't want to shell out for a 1080. I want something like the 1070 but without a deficit in async support. A 490 would be the sweet spot for me. I believe the 280 and 290 were released about twenty days apart and a similar thing happened with the previous gen AMD cards...

Is Ashes of the Singularity just super optimised for DX12 or does it lean toward AMD anyway?

Would buying two 480's for crossfire be a reliable way of getting 1080 levels of performance in DX12? I've heard that DX12 natively does crossfire but I haven't looked in to how reliable it is. I want 1080 levels of performance in DX12 but also want the more future-proof Async in AMD gpu's.

Does anyone think they're going to announce a bigger Polaris card in the near future? I'm wondering how long I should hold off.
