AMD's John Bridgman on Radeon, Linux and Open Source 3D

I'm on the LLVM mailing list, and was actively watching it not to long ago, if I'm not mistaken, there are a fair number of efforts targetting GPUs. Gallium3D being just one.

    Vista+Apache+PHP+PERL=Headache...

The easiest thing to do would be to use XAMPP, look it up, you'll be much happier afterwards. Note the VM option, with an image that's largely the same as your production server is the way to go. Especially apache, php, and extension version, also the bitness.

Coming to terms with SpreadSheet software

One has to be careful especially of Excel, I can't remember the details, but I remember a stats prof once remarking it didn't entirely respect order of operations. Also unless things have changed, Excel doesn't support large data sets, again that depends on what you're doing. Generally...

why did intel get tungsten to write drivers for gma 500 (imgtec powervr sgx)?

Not to mention Tungsten has some very interesting tools under their belt. It also ties into open source. I suggest reading some of Zack Rusin's (zrusin.blogspot.com) blogs about Tungsten, and graphics in general.

    Diablo III - It's official

Just because there was no support from Blizzard overtly, D2 had a fair number of mods. Playing on bnet on the other hand might be another matter entirely.

Speculation thread: What must linux do to become more competitive in the home desktop

I think you missed my point. Honestly, when it comes to browsing, emailing, moving pictures and music about, and basic office stuff that a home user wants Linux is there. The big weaknesses right now are web cam and taxes, as far as user experience goes. As for getting people to actually...

    Die Starbucks

That is a pretty sofisticated bomb, you don't just think of these things, requires a fair bit of fore thought. And here, I would have chalked it up to someone "assploding" after a rotten buritto! PS. I live about 20 minutes drive from the area, but I haven't been following the story.

Is the Used Game Market Damaging the Industry?

LoL, next we'll have car manufacturers saying used cars adversely effect the industry. Moreover when the auto industry tries to keep out generic parts, now they do it by tossing a bunch of hardware/software checks into various things to keep others out.

About PPC and x86 performance at a glance

Ok, this doesn't make sense, are you comparing dollar wise? If so, everything x86 is far faster as you can get much faster CPUs at the same price point, except for rare edge cases (a subset of which were actual applications), and Apple FUD were about the only time PPC was really any faster...

    Hybrid cars should be banned

Lexus has hybrids, the interesting thing, is that they make it sound all environmentally friendly; however, in various tests it was found that the hybrid made almost no difference, instead the electric motors were being used for added performance. Interesting, eh? My point being, don't assume...
