First of all, Dropping DirectSound doesn't mean it'll render in "software". It's just another driver model as WDDM in graphics. We don't know how well Vista Kernel Mixer can perform but I believe this can allow sound card IHVs to better control their audio driver model.

And from What I know, the warranty service in HK is quite bad. You'd better prepared. You won't find any warranty service in HK is like what eVGA/BFG offers here in US.

Hong Kong's hardware situation isn't any better. There are quite many brands that didn't make through HK, like Albatron, DFI, OCZ, Tagan, etc. And because Hong Kong market is relatively small, the choice isn't really bigger than mainland China. My family is in HK and I'm now studying in...

back to topic. I did the same thing. I returned my eVGA 7900GT SS and got a HIS IceQ3 X1900XT. HIS actually has IceQ3 solution for both X1900XT and XTX and they don't cost an additional arm. The total price I counted is similar as you purchase a regular X1900XT plus an aftermarket cooling...

Of course. If you need good airflow in your case, additional case fans are a must, therefore added noise level. My ear is very sensitive to constant background noise, especially when I'm listening to music. So the noise level is pretty important to me. Besides, even if you have good airflow...

There are no really good aftermarket cooling for X1900XT(X) besides HIS IceQ3. All other Aftermarket cooling solutions bascially circulating heat inside the case. This will affect your mobo and other components.
