    Master's and Ph.D. degrees

The truth is there. Don't regret anything, or you'll regret everything. Go into whatever interests you most, and make great things. Some time down the road, what you find really exciting now won't be that interesting or relevant anymore. It won't matter. What will matter is what you achieved...

    GL_EXT_texture_sRGB and ATI hardware

FWIW, the database at delphi3D.net only lists NVIDIA cards supporting this extension (GF FX and up).

    Job offerings

I swear I saw a freshly created Job offerings section a few days ago. Where has it gone?

The LAST R600 Rumours & Speculation Thread

X3000 exists. It is Intel's current integrated graphics core.

The LAST R600 Rumours & Speculation Thread

Don't know where you get that from. People mentioned here that XTX2 would be probably developed to compete with G80 *refresh*, giving ATI time to get its own R600 refresh out.

New API for PowerVR in CarNav?

OpenGL ES does not have display list at all. OpenGL has display lists, but they cannot be updated.

DX10 on XP, through OGL wrapper?

Technically yes, but I was more refering to the fact that it's easier to target say OpenGL 1.5 or 2.0 than 1.1 + ARB_multitexture + ARB_VBO + ARB_multisample + ... The OpenGL DLL problem under Windows is more of a strategic risk than a real technical obstacle. Hardware and software vendors...

DX10 on XP, through OGL wrapper?

(by ARB I assume you meant VBO) I think there is some contradiction here. On one hand, OpenGL proprietary extensions are the _fastest_ way for developpers to access new functionnality (no need to wait for MS next API overhaul). Depending on the type of audience targeted by the...

DX10 on XP, through OGL wrapper?

Right. And what a shame it took MS 10 revisions of their API to realize that a switch to kernel mode for draw calls was not the smartest thing to do.

    Problem with intel GMA X3000

Unfortunately, it's not that strange. It indicates a driver bug. Maybe you could try to install older drivers. Otherwise, as said previously, any 50$ card from ATI or NVIDIA will do _much_ better than the Intel X3000 (especially regarding driver stability and support).

    Intel hiring 3DLabs staff

That's good news because we are in the Companies and Industry section, and I didn't see anyone discuss technical matters here. Care to share you insight regarding business / strategic reasons for Intel to go in the discrete market (once again)?

    Intel hiring 3DLabs staff

What's new compared to february is the possibility for Intel to be lagging behind its competitor when ATI supplies AMD with high-quality chipsets and good integrated graphics chips (think about platforms here, ala centrino). If AMD offers a high-quality CPU-chipset-graphics combo, this will...

    Intel hiring 3DLabs staff

http://uk.theinquirer.net/?article=33812 Now would this possibly mean that Intel could eventually launch discrete graphics chips (i740 anyone?) ? Or would this dream team "only" work on improving integrated solutions? What do you think?

    3D scene descriptor format

You might be interested in MPEG4 as well since it incorporates a scene graph called BIFS (BInary Format for Scenes) which is based on VRML97, but benefits from the whole MPEG4 framework (streaming and multiplexing among other things). As it name states, it is a binary (compressed) format which...
