My take on the possibility.
CPU frame rate limiter or limitations.
GPU frame rate limitations.
Non exactness of frame time on CPU and/or GPU.
If CPU frame time hovers around a fixed unit close to the monitor refresh (and at least double buffer) and the GPU can basically keep pace, then if you...
Thanks for everyone who helped, upgraded the CPU yesterday... so far so good. Had a hiccup where when waking up from sleep the machine would reboot instead.
What's a good cpu stress test program? do they come with a cpu power/heat monitor built in? intel 4670
Also anyone have really high cpu...
I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that maybe 'best api' means if the game supports raytracing its being used. I'm excited for previews/and reviews, matching or beating nvidia with less hardware. I wonder exactly what they'll reveal.
edit - except for the amount of ram...
RX470 mining edition (I think msi), airflow is ok I guess, open case for now and the only card installed is the video card. and 1200rpm at desktop.
edit - MSI Armor mining gpu.
in my example there are 96 wavefronts, therefore 96 instruction streams. Thats not including branch divergence because I'm not certain on how its handled.
edit - therefore up to 96 different unique program counters.
edit - now that I think about it branch divergence should make no difference.
I was reading the document: GCN_Architecture_whitepaper.pdf and was suprised when I read the following:
A cluster of up to 4 Compute Units share a single 32KB L1 instruction cache that is 4-way associative and backed by the L2 cache. Cache lines are 64B long and typically hold 8...
I was wondering how in the dx9 era were shadow maps done? I am referring to draw call limitations BTW, as in how does one use shadow maps if your draw call budget was only 3 to 6 thousand draw calls per frame. Just light maps with a clever use of shadow maps on some dynamic objects? But I...
I know but what is it like 300 shaders and 100 to 200 mhz boost?
BTW = I should and probably will make a new thread but I think my PC might have a power problem. Recently when I attempt to plug in my usb HD, when the metal touches (before any actual plugging in) the screen goes blank for a...
Well I was already at 1600x900 but putting it down to high did cut the fan noise a good amount in Deus ex MD. I'll try some other games.
But I really didn't think it would make much of a difference since I wasn't dropping frames... I wonder why.
I don't have Crysis 3 but all the ones you mention and Monster Hunter World (and more) makes a fan in my computer to go crazy no matter what the settings. I know the GPU fan but I'm not sure about the power supply fan. I did buy a mining gpu maybe thats why?
edit - rx470
btw what settings do...
W/O confirmation I won't risk it, back when I did this more often I remember the BIOS needing to support the CPU... I think it had something to do with microcode updates.
As far as whats slow, I'm actually ok with things but I bought this computer 6 years ago and its about time to reapply the...
