    Intel Atom Z600

Creative's ARM based Zii architecture has a thoroughput focus, doesn't it? We'll probably see the first mobile device supporting OpenCL before anything uses Zii, though.

What is a bullshot? Let us examine the differences between a PR shot and total BS.

I recognize the car and track/background I think as being in one of the Need for Speed games that came out around the time of the 360. It looks like they just applied a crap load of AA or a super high resolution to it, but that's pretty much what the game looked like from memory.

    Building an HTPC.. tuner question

Some of the higher end shuttle XPCs can hold dual 5800s, if you can find single slot 5800s. Otherwise, you're looking for at least matx.

    Building an HTPC.. tuner question

The more you try to get an HTPC to do, the more it fails. I find Boxee and XBMC give good DVD playback quality out of the box, but Windows Media Center is horrible. TV tuner support is bad (windows 7 media center fails on resume for me with two separate tuner cards I've tried, and it's...

    Detailed steps of DX11 tesselation

Hmm, I don't understand the purpose of tesselation. Is there something similar in openGL? If you already have the patches, why go through the costly act of tessellating them at all? Why not just point sample (with pixels or voxels or discs or whatever primitive you'd like to define) the...

    AMD/ATI for Xbox Next?

I'm not saying anything about console gaming needs to change, other than software compatibility with PCs. Why not? Xbox and PC already share many libraries, and .net is already a high performance just-in-time compiled language, Microsoft could increase the appeal of the Xbox platform to...

    OpenGL deprecation myths

I view OpenGL's model as something similar to X Windows. Strict separation of functionality based on usage requirements and hardware of the time, resulting in a very efficient use of resources that can be very restrictive and break down severely. A while back, I was running my PCI-Express...

    AMD/ATI for Xbox Next?

I could see a Fusion mark 2 end up in the next Xbox. Backwards compatibility might not be too bad, due to the 360's reliance on higher level libraries and intermediate code, as well as the low performance per thread. If a game were to make use of all 6 threads, you might get performance per...

    Fusion die-shot - 2009 Analyst Day

Why not an optional edram chip like xenos? How much memory would it take to handle 1920x1080 with 2xAA?

    Advice about Ubuntu installation.

Grab all the default updates for ubuntu before you enable any additional repositories/sources. I've found a nasty bug with ubuntu 9.04 that prevents it from booting if you try to grab all the updates at once.

    HTPC solution sought... tips/experience/thoughts appreciated

There are mini-itx boards out there that come with built in wifi and support dual (and even quad) core cpus. Media center interface is important, I'd recommend boxee, it integrates into streaming video websites as well so you can use a remote to browse everything.

    Dothan verses Northwood

It's finding it's way into netbooks, but I have a feeling that might be on cost. AMD seems to offer chips in the power usage, as does Intel. Some company made a sub-netbook form factor unit (think oqo sized) that used an underclocked turion x2 (800mhz). It was an interesting device...

    AMD RD890,RS880, and RX880

Alternatively, I can run Windows Vista/7 for games, and still have my flavor of linux running smoothly and with full 3d support (or at least good enough for doing basic development in opengl).

    AMD RD890,RS880, and RX880

I recall early roadmaps having the desktop and server parts with IOMMU, but the mobile without. I'm waiting for this feature as well.
