    Finally had a lucid dream

I just had a dream within a dream incident. It's always trippy. The other type of semi-lucid dream I have are ones where I explore a synthesized urban environment. The last one was a strange ultra-wealthy 1800s Paris-like town where I fought a demon that was trapped in a wall. Afterwards, we...

new tech demo from Tri Ace

That's what I figured. Personally, I'd rather wait for the next generation of consoles before I'm subjected to this level of imprecision and aliasing. It looks great in a screenshot, but playing it would be another matter.

new tech demo from Tri Ace

Am I the only one who finds the visuals to have a certain "instability"? Things seem to shimmer a lot more than I would like to stare at for hours.

    [GDC 2011] Unreal Technology Demo

A direct feed would be very nice. Meanwhile, some high resolutions screens can be found with a quick google.

    Replaying the classics.

NFS3 was a great game, and I did beat everything. In fact, because I have the PC version, I added more cars and tracks to make the game more interesting/difficult. My brother made a few tracks with these huge canyons you had to jump over, which I enjoyed. There were also the many silly cars...

    Very nice animation!

I can see why you'd say that, many of the materials lack the necessary grittiness of reality, which gives it the raytraced look. It is a somewhat new renderer, however, so give it some time to mature. I will say this, I don't think you'll get much photo-surrealism from it. That is, images that...

    Very nice animation!

Actually, that renderer simulates the spectrum of visible light, and nothing is precomputed. You just set the material parameters (SSS, roughness, absorption, thin films, etc...), lens settings (DOF, fStop, shutter speed, diffraction, etc...), define lights, and that image is what you get. All...

    Very nice animation!

    Final Fantasy XIII [PS3, X360]

You can't say that for sure. It could be there because the clothes are being caught on her nipple. Maybe she's somewhere really cold. Certainly you'd feel the chill with what she's wearing! A true gentleman would lend her their jacket.

3D realtime water surface using LBM physical modeling [Videos & Demo]

Just curious, a lot of the recent very impressive fluid simulations I've seen incorporate a simulation over the surface geometry as well as the volumetric component. Any thoughts on when we might see that in games? It makes it look so much better.

    Critter Crunch

I was at a recent Toronto indie games event where the President of Capybara, the company that made Critter Crunch, made a presentation. They're from Toronto, Canada. Saw some never before public concept art, so that felt special. There was some really hilarious looking renditions of Biggs, the...
