I have read the article where that quote is from and the impression it gives is that they simply don't know the speed of the PS3's drive.

The Rev controler MIGHT ( that's a BIG maybe as far as I'm concerned ) be good for FPS. But that wont matter much if the rev can ony manage the FPS's of last gen technology wise and then only at 640 X 480. Noone in their right mind would buy a Rev if FPS's were one of their favorite...

In the past people have speculated about games on blue ray discs having slower load times, it was also speculated how many games would actually come on BR discs anyway. We were expectig games to come out on DVD's first and then slowly over time if and when extra storage space was required...

Actually no. A 2X's Blue Ray drive is not equivalent to a 12X's DVD drive. To just slightly be fasterthan a 12X DVD drive a 4X's blueRay drive would be needed.
