Hi

A friend of mine bought this notebook with a VGA out connection. He would like to connect it to an CRT TV (NTSC or PAL-M) using a VGA -> RCA adapter like this: http://www.computercasesandcables.com/ccc/CV-25120.html

The notebook configuration is:
- Sony Vaio model sz340p
- windows xp
- nvidia geforce go 7400
- nvidia driver 8.4.9.1 (06/20/2006)

The TV is erroneuslly recognized as analog monitor by the driver.
How to configure it as an interlaced TV ?

Thanks for any comments/advice

why would you want it as an interlaced tv ?
most tvs can do non interlaced no problem and an alologue monitor seems the better solution

if you switch to clasic control panel there is a force tv detection check box

ps: i think it will only detect a tv if you connect it via tv out

He need an interlaced TV configuration because he will give presentations in places where old interlaced TV is still being used.

Thanks Davros

what happens when he connects it to an old tv ?
old crt monitors back in the 14 inch days used to only support higher resolutions in interlaced mode so it may work

the tv your using isnt that old if it was it would only have co-ax (rf) input
maybe you need on pc to tv converter
http://www.sundialmicro.com/PC-to-TV-Converters_1706.html

When he connect it to an old tv it is recognized as "analog monitor" and a progressive analog signal is configured.

I was thinking about configure the nvidia driver to an interlaced signal that could work with the TV using the VGA -> RCA adapter. The nvidia driver looks capable to do that. I saw the interlaced option plus lots of other details in the advanced configuration.

Thanks for the link :)

No it doesnt. The TVs are waiting for an interlaced NTSC or PAL-M signal.
The nvidia driver has lots of parameters that probably com generate a compatble signal. The problem is how to configure it.
