Xbox 360 Modding Chassis

Way to void your warranty for a console that's notorious for it's short lifespan already..

No thanks..:p

Could be good for those with older consoles. I had a 20 gig launch unit that no longer has a warrenty , I would buy this for that if it would actually cool down the console.

Might also be good for when the Arcade gets to the near disposable price point of $199... if the mod was smaller, cheaper, and better looking.

Those of us with older 360's can grab a new Arcade, slip the old harddrive and the new Arcade guts into the mod, and give away the old 360 as a Core/Arcade.

It's $150! And over 40 cms high! Wouldn't it better better to keep the money and if your XB360 dies, grab a new arcade and stick your HDD on? You may be lucky and have the console last until 360s come right down. That has to be better than chancing $150 on keeping on older board alive.

I guess this is targeted at the 'enthusiast' market, where it's not so much about practicality but having the best of things. If you can afford the space, the money, don't mind the looks, and would rather have a quieter system (though it's only quieting the drive with foam, not offering a quiet drive solution; I don't know how effective that'll be), then it's a good buy ;)

I agree with Shifty, at this price point, you'd be dumb not to just buy a new arcade unit if your goal was stability/longevity.

I also don't understand how this case is going to make my 360 less noisy. The 360 is noisy because of the DVD drive. How is this case going to make my DVD drive quieter?

You could probably install noise dampening mounts.

Didn't they extend the warranty for three years for all xboxes? If so, your console is under warranty until Nov of this year.

One word: Noise.

I would have seriously considered this to silence my Xbox 360. The system is simply to loud for me and this would help it at least some.

They only extended the warranty 3 years from date of purchase only on the RROD error. So yes, this November will be 3 years for launch units. Again, this doesn't cover anything like DVD-ROM drive reading errors etc, just the 3 red lights (RROD).

If anybody has a unit that's about run out on the standard 1 year warranty, I would highly suggest calling Microsoft and pay the $30 to get it extended another year. I did last December. So far I've never had one single issue, but it's well worth the peace of mind knowing that it's covered. Anyway, I hope to have sold mine on eBay before it comes up again later this year. The proceeds will go to help pay for an Elite. Anybody interested? ;)
