WiiHaveAProblem is a website that's reporting on the problem of people throwing their Wii controllers through various expensive bits of AV equipment. Looking at the spindly strap connector, it does seem that Nintendo did not take into account big Americans getting over-excited and sweaty-palmed whilst playing games.

There was a video of a guy accidentally throwing his controller against a wall whilst trying to smash a ball in the tennis game that perfectly illustrates how easy it is to do.

Mentioned in the Wii impressions thread. That strap is mighty slim though. A small defect would have a big effect.
