Racist fliers were scattered Tuesday on lawns and windshields in the town where Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant is to go on trial on sexual assault charges.

LATER TUESDAY, a white supremacist group acknowledged leaving the fliers — headlined “Don’t have sex with blacksâ€￾ — and said they were in response to the Bryant case.

Whacko fringe groups are of course a constant source of amusement. :D

What's perhaps more alarming, is statistics like these:

http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2003-08-07-kobe-poll-usat_x.htm

This week's poll of 1,003 adults found 41% think the felony charge against the Los Angeles Lakers guard is "definitely" or "probably" true, while 38% say it is false. They were questioned by telephone Monday through Wednesday. The poll has a margin of error of +/-3 percentage points.

But more than two-thirds of blacks in that sample and in an identical poll July 25-27 said they think the charge is false. About one-fourth believed it is true. Whites in the two polls were about evenly split.

Other racial splits are shown in that article wrt the Simpson case, Tyson....

What shocks me is that today, there are still an overwhelming number of minorities who believe OJ was indeed not guilty, even though DNA evidence showed that there was only a 1 in 10 Billion chance that it was not him. Considering there are only 6 Billion people on the planet, I'd say those were pretty damning odds. Unless of course, there's some evil OJ twin running around that we don't know about.

As for Tyson, I'm mixed on that case. On one hand if she did indeed say no, he had no business going any further. However, she was an idiot for going up to his room ~ 2 AM after spending the night flirting *very* heavily, according to eyewitness reports. Not to "blame the victim," but sometimes people need to exercise their common sense. Yea, you were only going up to his room to talk about the flowers desiree, and maybe catch a movie.

I'll never forget one of the OJ jury members appearing on Oprah shortly after the trial ended and flat-out admitting that the DNA evidence was too complicated for her to understand so she just ignored it. Her husband, sitting next to her, said something like, "Yeah, you'd have to be a PhG to understand that stuff."

Personally, I think a lot African Americans know OJ was guilty but were still happy to see a black man escape punishment imposed through institutions created by the white man.

Where was OJ's DNA sample taken from? Whether OJ was lying about cutting his hand from a broken glass or not is still up to debate and when you have that possbility it's not about whether it was his DNA or not ;)

Without a proper investigation and evidence from who know's where you can't determine a person's guilt. Guilt is not determined by gut instincts.
