Which API is used in the PS3

Hi everybody.

While discussing on some other boards I realized that I don't know which API is used in the PS3.
Some pointed that it should be OpenGL ES which sounds like a very believable eventuality but some comments here pushed me to think it could be something else more custom or derived from Nvidia tools + Sony own efforts (between I may have grossly missinterpret some comments so...).

Anyway Insights welcome :smile:

It solves my issue with some "enigmatic comments" :)

I may edit later, I'll read some more times as I'm not sure I got the last part properly.
 
I should add that by "best", I mean in terms of getting the most out of the system. PSGL being similar to OpenGL is more friendly, of course. As the PS3 is fixed hardware, it does not make too much sense to be using OpenGL as it is. The greater exposure of features and control through libgcm or PSGL shouldn't be ignored.
