3DO was also a company that went under last year. *Thwacks Guden on the head. Why? Because I can!* Never heard of the great selling yet awful(Well, for their time....) Army Men games?

Well, now that's just lovely. I have no problem with it (free speech) but if that were an imam or a rabbi the outcry would be deafening.

It's also terrific to see Greek and Cyrillic lettering painted onto the walls. In the minds of Westerners Eastern Orthodoxy == t3h 3Vi1. :devilish:

Oh, so someone actually picked up something 3DO were working on? Why would anyone want to do that!?

Looks pretty if u ask me....

Ubi Soft bought up heroes of might and magic, Namco bought up Street Syndicate Racing, and so on, and so on... ;)

Who picked up Army Men? Neughty Dog?

*imagines Army Men running on Jak2 engine*

Among the winning bidders in the auction for 3DO's assets were UbiSoft Holdings Inc. of Paris for the fantasy games "Might and Magic" and "Heroes of Might and Magic," for $1.3 million; Namco Hometek Inc. of San Jose for "Street Racing Syndicate" at $1.515 million; JoWooD Productions Software AG of Rottenmann, Austria, for the "Jacked" motorcycle game for $90,000; Crave Entertainment Inc. of Los Angeles for "Army Men" for $750,000; and Redmond, Wash.-based Microsoft Corp. which paid $450,000 for the intellectual property for "High Heat Baseball."

3DO founder Trip Hawkins was the winning bidder for two assets. Hawkins purchased for $200,000 what Butler described as a "backlist" of games that were released prior to 2001 and includes snow-skiing game "Jonny Moseley Mad Trix" and the Family/Vegas pack. He also picked up 3DO's Internet patent, which Butler said is a business concept involving the trade of virtual products, such as children's playing cards, for $205,000.

An assortment of intellectual property and tools for game development were purchased by Patent Purchase Manager LLC for $75,000.

Butler said additional assets that weren't sold at the auction for various reasons and would be put up for sale on Aug. 21. Those assets include around 140,000 units of "High Heat Baseball" that were not included in Microsoft's acquisition.

*feels skin crawl*

Every time I see or hear Trip Hawkins' name I feel my skin crawl. Oops, there I go again! *feels skin crawl*

Trip was the master of oral bullshitting, he lied so much about anything and everything I wouldn't have believed him if he said water is wet. I hated that guy because he was such a goddamn liar, but I still felt it was kind of sad to see the company wither and die like that.

Also, it made it feckin' difficult to find patches for HOMM3.
