What's the best 4MP compact camera under $400?

I've narrowed it down to the Pentax Optio S4i and the Canon PowerShot S410. Anyone know of any other cameras that are on par with the two mentioned above worth mentioning? I'm specifically looking for a compact body with a flat front face when the lense is retracted. Most import features are color accuracy, clarity, and low noise pictures.

Those aren't compact bodies. When I mention compact, I mean the size of a cigarette pack or smaller like the Konica Minolta DiMAGE X series. I excluded the X series from my choices because they have folded optics. I'm not fond of folded optics as they have to use a prism instead of a telescopic lense which makes the picture soft. This is for my sister not me btw.

It's good to have a man who regularly goes to Japan, Hong Kong and all those places and can get me all my electical gadjets at discounted prices.... I'm still going WOW at my Sony T1...

I have the Canon Powershot S400 and have been very happy with it. Small enough to fit into my belt pouch when I go running on trails and the picture quality is good. Drawbacks are a lack of features like shutter/aperture priority. Looks like the S410 also lacks these features.

I think the Powershot, either the S410 or the older S400 would be your best choice with regards to image quality, noise levels and the likes.

Good luck!
