US NPD Multiplier

In light of new evidence Ben, it seems like the NPD multiplier should probably be 1.33 instead of the 1.5 we used before. This would jibe with the fact that Sony has reportedly shipped 21.8 million units in the US and NPD reports sales of roughly 16 million = 21.3 million units (with the multiplier). This would leave 500k units in the channel, which seems reasonable.

I think that NPD probably scales the market minus Walmart (which is 25% of the market). That would put their reports at around 75% of total sales.

Any thoughts on this?

I think that is likely a good solution. Going to take a little while to get used to it though

Or, there's always the chance that sony is exagerating numbers, which is somehting that is common practice when quoting shipped.

Not too likely, considering that the 1.33 multiplier would also explain why MS said they sold 1 million copies of PGR when NPD * 1.33 + EU sales would have been about right around 1 million. It would also explain how GTA3 sales have always been reported by NPD at around 4.5 million, but Sony has claimed 6 million.
