Triplex has given some preliminary specs regarding the yet to be announced SiS Xabre 600 GPU:

- Worlds first 0.13um production process GPU chip
- 300Mhz core / 300Mhz memory
- Micro BGA DDR memory Xabre Ultra 600 / 64MB / 3.3ns / MicroBGA / DVI / TVOUT 3DMark Test: 8652 score

Xabre II... Right on time.
hmmh... Let's hope that they have now enough power to do BILINEAR right. ;)

I kinda like their Crapalizing(TM) BILINEAR and EMBM support. :)

well, they take 2 texture samples instead of four and calculate using average two missing ones. :)

well, it saves the bandwidth and it would have been a great invention on S3 ViRGE vs. Matrox Mystique vs. ATI Rage I -times, but ehm... now it's a bit too cheap shot. :)

8652 2k1Marks isn't too bad for a budget core... wow, let's hope SiS can break 15,000 with Xabre II. :) They just might do it! :)

Who is fabbing the Xabre II chips at .13?

Cheers,
LW.

I think SiS has it's own fabs but they are <0.15/0.18u-capable only. So probably UMC... although I remember their relationship being on shaky ground a while back (last year sometime I think).

MuFu.

I think you mean greater, not less. I'm sure they're working on upgrading to sub-150nm processes by now, anyway...

i must admit that, while the 3d quality isnt a R9000, it is sure as hell a good deal for the money. when i build machines for people that do very little gaming, i like to put GeFroce MXs in them because it would be just dumb to use a TNT Vanta these days.... budget chips with modern features are badly needed especially so that the lowest common denominatorcan be raised to DX8 at least, and we see most games utilizing programmable pipelines. and also, we dont want anyone to become too powerful because that stagnates the market. would we have seen the NV20 as soon as we did if it hadnt been for the threat of the Rampage / Sage and R200?

I was going to make up some crap about how the sign means the opposite on this side of the Atlantic but yeah, my bad. Cheers. ;)

Funny you should say that - who says it wasn't invented back then... ;)

Wow! Certainly nVidia and ATi have no chance competing against the new Xabre ExtraordinaryShinyVideocard(TM) with OctoHyperSuperHeroMarketingCore(TM) Memory Architecture and the fastest 0.5x Flicker-Free Jitter-Free Logic-Free Nothings-Free-Mate FullSceneUnderSampling(TM) AntiAliasing (FFJFLFNFMFSUSAA(TM)) on the market! I mean, who could fail to see the advantages of the PowerFrameExterminatorBlaster(TM) ColorMutatorRefreshBlender(TM) technique of BiPointAnisoSupraLinear Filtering(TM) PseudoSampledRasterPontificator(TM)? Only a truly PowerfulCompanyWhoKnowsWhatTheyreDoing(TM) could have the balls to register all those trademarks!

I'm going out to buy the new 128 MB Xabre 600 Ultra Ti Pro with 8-by-8-by-8-by8x StygianBitdepthAGPTextureBandEnslaver(TM) support the very moment it comes out! It's soooo exciting!

WOW! WHY, thats almost BitBoys "Axe" quality graphics!!!!!!!!, that even tops the Real3d-100 and Verrite 4400!!!!!

Hmm dozed of for a few minutes there - woke up and though for a minute I'd slept through the weekend and woken up in the middle of the NV30 launch ;D

Nah, the difference between nVidia's marketing department and SiS's marketing department is that when nVidia makes up bullshit catchphrases, they make it sound cool like "Lightspeed Memory Architecture" or "nFiniteFX". With the Xabre its all been silly sounding like "Coloredeemer", "Frictionless Memory", and "Pixelizer Software Shader", and their famous 1x Jitter Free Antialiasing mode. (lol!)
