The Doctor Will Freeze You Now

"I should prefer to an ordinary death, being immersed with a few friends in a cask of Madeira, until that time, then to be recalled to life by the solar warmth of my dear country! But in all probability, we live in a century too little advanced, and too near the infancy of science, to see such an art brought in our time to its perfection."-Benjamin Franklin wrote these words in 1773.

Interesting read at wired.com, just a glimpse of what's to come...

PS sorry if posted prior

I for one would seriously consider such a thing, if or when it becomes available. Thinking of being frozen until there is a cure for everything, until it is possible to live healthy for a loooooong time, really does appeal to me. And waking up in around 100 years from now is something that just sends me daydreaming...

No thanks (for myself).
I would rather live and die my normal life weather I have AIDS or the Kruno disease (Which I am an effective carrier ;)).

Well personally, if by the time i'm 40 i find out i have an incurable disease which i could do nothing to avoid (much like Parkinsons or cancer), i'd be very happy if my "bad luck" could be turned around, it would be great to wake up one day and be completely cured.

And everyone you loved or cared for dead and gone?

No thanks.

I guess it will take time getting used to, but of course if i were to decide to go through with a procedure like this, i would also have thought about it long enough and be prepared to wake up in, say, 100 years knowing that all the people i loved are gone.
In the end, i'd be the dead one if i wasn't all frozen up, so i guess it's kinda like a second chance. And the thing is, if i end up doing it, chances are some of the people i know now would do it too, cause i wouldn't do it "on my own", a a prototype kind of thing. I would only do it when it's common practice to do so...

wouldnt bother me, it would give me a new chance at a new life with new friends. and maybe the people then would actually like me cause I'd have some super-cool stories to tell like "OMG I remember once it was actually SNOWING and it was so cool- these little white flecks of ice were FALLING from the SKY and they would pile up on the GRASS, you guys have all seen grass in the cybermuseum of nature, right?" And it would be just great cause I'd bust out with some crazy old songs like "Milkshake" by Kelis and everyone would just love me...

Hmm yeah I think ima do that soon as its available :D
