hi guys, if you could help me out

looking for an upgrade from my current card (ati 9600xt VIVO 128mb)
since i dont want to spend to much money
i saw an promotion over here
asus v9999td : actually a stock gf6800 with 128mb memory for 137.5euro

i guess the ati x700pro has comparable speeds? going for something like 160 euro
will the 256mb videomemory be of any concern? idealy i would have a 6800with 256mb.. ( i like to switch from ati to nvidea every other card :) )

what i saw by googling is that a 6600gt is lower in speed in most games compared with stock 6800

Well the 6800 would completely wipe the floor with the X700 there. 12 pipes, 256-bit memory bandwidth, compared to 8 pipes, and a 128-bit memory interface. The memory interface of the X700 would rob you of a lot of performance, and the lack of pipelines would be a very large hit in performance too. For me, there is no comparison....6800 all the way.

Obviously you have to factor in clock speeds with pipe counts.

That said, I'd probably pick the 6800 for (IIRC) overall faster performance and probably greater OC potential. And there's that whole quad to unlock.... The fan on the 6800 might be quieter, too.

should i be concerned with 128mb or 256memory on my videocard?
i learned you have also 256mb 6800's . (for 50euro surplus)

Even with the extra ram on the x700 the 6800 should outperform it quite easily. 256 mb of ram would be better than 128, but not for an extra 50 euro.

An x700Pro would be a really bad buy, a x800gt would cost around the same and a x800GTO would only be a bit more expensive. I think a 6800 vanilla should beat the x800gt but not the GTO.

ok guys thanx alot. i think i go for the asus v9999: GF6800 325mhz /700mhz memory .
for only 137euro (21% tax included ) i cant complain i think
