Speculation: R360 to be unveiled at ECTS London?

Ok Dave, how 'bout we simplify the game. You need only answer yes or no to these simple questions, and you will have never said what you might not want to say.

1) Will HL2 be running on an ATI card at ECTS?

2) If so, will that card be a 9800 Pro?

Mebbe.... ;)

you guys have it backwards.
If he told us, he'd have to kill himself.
What makes you think he cares about our lives?

I do know the answer to that.

So, reading the tea leaves, I come up with:

1). Not ECTS London. Otherwise the answer would be a little too revealing for something that is still a secret.

2). It is definitely been scheduled for somewhere/sometime tho, and Dave knows where/when that is, or he could not have answered as he did (I wouldn't think he could know it is NOT there/then, unless he knows where/when it REALLY IS). Which is, I think, a good sign that it is relatively near.

If you ask nicely he may agree to nod or shake his head in response to your question... hmmm then again little use in that on a forum

Kristof, when will Series 5 be released?
*rapidly takes a flight to where Kristof is right now to see what he does with his head*

Personally, I don't see how ATI would give up such an opportunity with Valve and not at least have working R360 silicon at ECTS, even if retail boards aren't ready for showing. There is no other major trade show until Computex in late September, and that would seem a bit late for a demo with respect to the expected retail availability. Of course expectations could be off somewhat and R360 might not ship until later in October. Somehow the sweet deals like VisionTek's $299 9800 Pro suggest that the 9900 Pro is right around the corner.

was there ever any conformation of it being r360 or just r350 rev 3? 4? etc

Different designations for the same concept, it seems. My understanding is that R360 is essentially R350 with higher clock speeds.

Listening to the webcast of Rick Bergman's Pacific Crest presentation this morning, he confirmed that ATI would be revealing its R4xx generation technology by early next year (hundreds of millions of transistors) and that RV350 technology would be aggressively pushed down to the entry level. He also clearly stated that 0.13u yields were higher than expected, and that the 9600/Pro was selling extremely well (which I found intriguing considering I've been scouring online stores for two months and see no signs of OEM adoption).
