So I picked up my new speakers after 2 months waiting

It sucks being in Australia when it comes to technology.
3 months waiting for these speakers, got a call on my mobile today that they were in.

Now I am listening to Meat Loaf "Paradise by the dashboard light".

The thing that surprises me is that there is a huge difference between my current and last set of speakers, for one thing I can hear the lyrics a lot clearer (I don't mistake words for other words), while using onboard audio (the onboard audio of my mobo is far better than that on my laptop).

Funny enough that it was speakers holding back my audio experience and not the onboard crap. I was thinking about buying a good sound card but since I have no clarity issues and very good audio as it is I wont waste my money (I'm no audiophile).

Question:
Where should my treble and bass be set? I currently have treble set half way and bass to max.

Bass and treble levels are a personal preference... though a purist would say to keep them both at flat. Raising either will produce artifacts, if you notice it is another issue entirely.

It depends on the levels too. Meaning, some systems have those bass and treble knobs as simple "boost" -- leaving them turned all the way down would be "adding zero".

However, other systems have those bass and treble knobs as +/- adjustment -- leaving them turned all the way down would result in "subtracting" an amount. (Technically, the term would be filtering) In these cases, you'd need to leave the knobs at 50% in an attempt to "add zero".

I still hold that most current onboard audio is better than a lot of people give it credit for. And here's yet another example as to why...
