Scanning With XP Problems..Help!

My HP Scanner was fine with Win98 but when I started with XP I found out the software (PhotoDeluxe 3.0) that came with my scanner does'nt support XP. Even the parser plug in won't help me. Adobe is 0 help on this. My problem is that I've tried several "Photo Editing" software and they all use XP's sorry old "Scanning Wizard". I find myself having to crop EVERY picture because XP scans the entire bed and does'nt know to just display the picture only like PD 3.0 did.

Please your hlep would be appreciated. Thanks

It's an HP Scanjet 4200C using USB. The problem started when I began with XP. I'm really thinking I need some really smart scanning software that will recognize only the picture on the scanner bed without me having to crop it.

Hmmm...

I have a 6200 and have no problems...though I don't know what kind of software your part comes with. I also use USB with WinXP. I'm just going to state some of the obvious things here...

1) Disconnect the scanner.
2) "Uninstall" any "ScanJet" utilities.
3) Download the latest drivers AND patches: (Note there is a specific patch forn WinXP.)
4) Install new drivers
5) Connect the Scanner.

Good luck!

I think that you should be able to get TWAIN drivers for the scanner. Which most photo editing programs should be able to use.
In the menu will be something along the lines of Aquire image using TWAIN.
