Anandtech got their hands of the MDP of the SD835 and made some tests on them.

Modest jump in performance and more focused on lowering the platform power consumption and functionality.

23% power reduction on the whole phone while running the same VR workload seems very impressive. This means we're probably seeing well over 30% power reduction on the SoC alone.
All while reducing the chip's size and significantly increasing multi-threaded performance.
