Problem with windows bootup since service pack update

Hello-

My friend recently experienced an error with his computer after his installation of service pack 2 on his computer. He's running an AMD 64 4000+ (if that's relevent) and Windows XP professional. Upon startup Windows freezes instantly, yet he's able to access it in safe mode. Any ideas on what this may be?

Probably spyware or such. Have him try stinger and hijackthis.

If that doesn't work, post again.

Agree with guru. I always recommend updating SP2 on a clean install. SPyware = problems
