Now I've been looking at the prospect of Crossfiring two 3850's with 512Mb to replace my 2900XT.
(Sapphire is cheaper, Powercolor has the fancy cooler+default overclock.)
I don't think I ever read anything by Overclock3D.net and.. don't feel like doing it again after reading this review that. (the write seems to be someone just before his 20's with little to no writing experience and a complete arse at creating a chart that uses the same colors in each paragraph.)
but here it is.
in Q4, a HD3850 blowing everything out of the water at 1900x1200 Ultra 4AA/8AF.

I know this card is clocked a bit better than the reference models.. but that is just insane.
So far the only OGL test i've seen is ET:QW in the review over at VR-Zone where it shows a proper distance to the 2900 and 8800GT (10% and 30% respectively)

And then this one in german.
http://www.technic3d.com/article-591,4-powercolor-hd3850-xtreme-amd-im-aufwind.htm
8% faster than the 8800Ultra at 1600x1200 (Ultra, 8xAA,2xAF) in Doom3.
and after that it tanks in Prey.
These numbers are.. not what I'm used to seeing al the other benchmarks available of the normal 3850.
What's happening? I know the 8xAA performance numbers delivered by the HD3800's are good. but these situations are exceptional and probably based on an error.. anyone care to enlighten me?
