Ok Rog I hate to be a bitch, but I need some context here.

Who said this, who do they claim to be, and how do they claim to know?

It sounds very plausible, but it also sounds like it could be a lighthearted joke as well, with the BYOB and all.

In all fairness...he's trying to find a link to some financial press release...I wouldn't brand him a liar just yet...maybe he misinterpreted some info...but I'll just wait and see...this is what he had to say:

"in a press statement about the new events for the 2006 fiscal schedule.
Since I keep up with the Kyoto International Conference Center events (hoping for the upcoming Brice Hornsby concert info), I noticed it.

Trying to find the link... hold on."

Before this all gets resolved ten minutes from now, I will say that his story seems too, well, 'regular' to be straight BS to me. But the fact that the convention center lists no such events, well obviously that's a strike against.

Anyway I'm happy to give him the benefit of the doubt - I'm just not believing anything either way until it's locked in.

Dunno why the Tsukuba Convention Center is mentioned w/a Kyoto address though, it's in a completely different city several hundred miles away... And there's nothing scheduled for KICH that closely resembles a Playstation event...

seems like a joke...but I hang around gaf alot and never seen him to do such a thing...weird if you ask me.

Well, and that's that. Quick resolution at least.

(GAF is a weird place with all those pictures all the time...)

Someone should tell the guy that arial does not look that way when outputted in HTML.

tip for next time: remove the text AA in photoshop.

Why Photoshop?
If I were him I'd modified the source HTML :p

These fakes are embarrassing. If you want to fake, at least make it a bit more convincing! :devilish:
And cleartype wouldn't selectively AA just the most important part. Also, Cleartype (being sub-pixel based) looks slightly different from photoshop standard AA (PS has 4 variants for Text).

OT: This reminds me, back when I faked several screenshots of a D2 item (pre-D2X) and posted them on a german D2 forum a big part of the European Battle.net population was looking for it for a few days.
The funny thing was that some continued to insist that it existed after I debunked it myself.
