Think i can plug it into my street's power supply? The whole neighborhood will be blacked out, but at least i'll be able to play Doom3 decently... And it's only for like 2 hours a day! I'm sure they can put up with it!
If you are talking about a quality hefty PSU, you could be adding about 15-20 percent to the price of the video card just to have the juice to run the graphics card. That's significant.

But with all the things we currently power of a 300-350w PSU, at some point we will need to upgrade the thing. Now an upgrade from a 400+ to a 500w PSU would be ridiculous.

See this is the point im trying to shed some light on. There is a point where NV is not to blame for requiring you to upgrade your PSU. Even ATI will at some point say you need more power.
