No more booth babes at E3?

 Hey they DO need to open the market up so that girls start playing more games... That's where the real money is!! If they get as many girls to play games as there are boys, imagine how much money they'd make!

Well i was under the impression that Geeks (with a capital G) either don't know what sex is or are so desperate they'll just do anyone.......... :devilish:

Besides, Geeks will see PS3 in the background and will never even notice booth babes/boys.........

Hey i'd want to see booth boys TOTALLY and completely for marketing reasons. Totally selfless. Opening up the market to girls is a good thing.

From http://www.joystiq.com/
Gamecloud has obtained a statement from the director of E3 concerning this policy, and it seems that it's not a new development:

In fact, it is the same as it has been for the past several years, and the vast majority of other major tradeshows have the same or similar policies. What's new in 2006 is an update of the enforcement policies, which simply allow show management to better enforce the long-standing dress code.
So fear not, they'll be there as before.
Hasn't there already been booth-boys, I remember seeing some muscular commando types in pictures... and well, there must be someone dressed as Mario.

I always found the whole booth babe thingy a bit tasteless, but I guess I would've prefered if the exhibitors had come to that conclusion on their own, instead of the ESA putting their foot down like this. If someone wants to sell their product with sex, why not? Its their business after all. They'll have to suffer the consequences of any image they project on themselves sooner or later anyway, wether that's for good or bad is up to the audience...

What about booth swingers? Bi booth babes and boys in an orgy of marketing.

I should be in marketing. My adverts wouldn't make the watershed, but the Big Bro live night owls would find them amusing.

Booth babes and E3 are like Fat kids and teasing. They're a part the very fabric of what makes E3, E3. Or, a fat kid fat.

wind?

If you are really serious about getting women involved in videogames... there is one person with power to sway millions - Oprah Winfrey. If you got Oprah to do just ONE show about E3 and focus on some videogame or system or something.... Sales would probably double in North America for that item that year. Its like money in the bank!

... how about the rest of the world? You know, the ones that matter less than americans...

Besides, Oprah would suck half the money you'd make thanks to her anyway... So you'd be getting one rich woman even richer (without her even noticing really, i mean it's like adding a cup of salt to the ocean at this point) and... lots of girls buying that last X360 you could have had but now you have to wait 3 months to get one!

I always thought half the point of having booth-babes at events like E3, was to show us programmers what a woman looked like - though with the slight side-effect of reinforcing a particular stereotype image...

Actually E3 last year was pretty light on the booth-babe front. Nintendo and Gizmondo spring to mind as going down that route (especially the latter), and any company that had scantily clad women actually in the games used it as an excuse to have models dressed up in costumes.

Oprah don't strike me as a gamer though. :???:

She's not a technophobe, but she's not exactly a geek either. If she did a show on viddy games I have a feeling it'd be about if video games make people kill or some such. :(

(Hey, I LIKE Oprah...I'm just a bit of a realist on rare occasions)

So that means the fabric of E3 is like, potato crisps? :devilish:
