More Tomonobu Itagaki comments

The guy is cool and awesome in a very strange way. He makes me laugh sometimes. I can imagine him having a cool pose on a chair spilling his poison

Super cocky guy

He always gets pissed when someone says something he doesnt like about his games, or something he believes indirectly insults his games

My daughter tried playing Okami, and she got sick of it pretty quickly-and I got pretty sick of it, too. And I'm not out to make this an Okami bashing session or anything — I'm just saying that it didn't feel like it had much of a spirit. It's unique, but it's not a powerful fighter plane... So I heard Kamiya said something about the action genre not moving forward in eight years. Can you tell me more about that?

I cant help but like the guy.

Many of his comments are very abrasive and he does seem a bit narcissistic, but at least he comes off as honest and doesnt spout the usual PR nonsense (imo).

He is "passionate" ... He has "opinions" ... and no one ever convinced him he needs to be PC. PR nightmare!

:thumbs up:

Good to see there are some devs that still have a passion for their work. Not to say there aren't a lot of passionate devs out there (good game = passionate devs, IMHO) but it's good to actually hear from one every so often.

My favorite comment was about his model train hobby... Talk about coming out of left field!

His games??? so what games did he create or am I missing something here?

was Ninja Gaiden really his idea, his creation and therefore "his game" so that he can really get defensive or offensive in his comments?

Apparently, Kamiya said the action genre hasn't moved forward since the release of the first Devil May Cry. To which Itagaki replied:

...There are two types of people out there who like to make controversial, splashy comments. There are those who are truly outspoken, and there are those who are just trying to cover up for there weaknesses. We have a saying here in Japan — "the weaker dog barks more" — and I sincerely also like to remind him to make sure to stay awake for the next years.

comparing action genre games between two different platforms like PS2 and XBox 1 is very interesting, on one side you have a game that started a new era in action games and another that had no real competition in its home console so now that DMC is on XBox 360 as well as Ninja Gaiden 2 does his weaker dog comment hold any water or is he just barking up a storm, I say the latter.

Dont kill me just because you are picky with the choice of words.:p

How dare you question the man who created Dead or Alive XTreme Beach Volleyball!!!

I can question him when he has not really been responsible for creating a genre defining game, I am going to have to be on Tecmo's side on this one not on Itagaki.

And his comments against Okami, and Devil May Cry series are very sloppy specially with all of the achievements those games have made.

It seems to me that Ninja Gaiden 3d relied more on being on a console platform where the competition was non-existant, now that Xbox 360 secured Capcom to actually have a Devil May Cry sequel all of that changed so if his comments fly around then it is fair to compare the two games where it really matters and not on some fond memory.
