By chance, we were discussing illusions last week and a colleagues said he had one of those sort of pictures as his desktop. Apparently he kept getting asked "aren't you concerned about it eating up CPU cycles, animating it all the time?" :)

Dremples is a little app which does various morphing and motion blurring of tiled textures and just looks cool. It sets you background to a colour and then uses that colour for an overlay filter.

You do realise that foldering at home doesn't really find cures for diseases. The government use all your spare CPU to time break encryption keys of poor little gnomes!!!

But there's no need. They're either just like the dwarfs (i.e. they use "GOLD GOLD GOLD" as their pass phrase) or they are like the dwarves in which case you just have to read their messages by the right phase of the moon.
