By chance, we were discussing illusions last week and a colleagues said he had one of those sort of pictures as his desktop. Apparently he kept getting asked "aren't you concerned about it eating up CPU cycles, animating it all the time?"

Dremples is a little app which does various morphing and motion blurring of tiled textures and just looks cool. It sets you background to a colour and then uses that colour for an overlay filter.
