Microsoft Q1 FY19 earnings

But numbers like HW revenue don't mean that much when the XBX is 100% more expensive that the previous year's selection.

Why not? If anyone could release a product that’s 2.5X the price of their standard sku and drive hardware revenue by 100%, everyone would be doing it. Increased pricing doesn’t automatically equal increased revenue.

When looking at year over year sales, was there a $399-499 Xbox One S model in 2016 that had any sore or market share? That is why I think the Xbox One X might have offered a pretty big boost to revenue year over year. If there were any $399-499 SKU's in 2017(prior to X releasing) or even 2016, i seriously doubt they were selling nearly as well as the Xbox One X has done this year.

XBO wasn't selling well period at the same period last year. Remember that XBO-X and the XBO-S Minecraft Edition had been announced at E3 last year, which certainly didn't help things. Lack of compelling exclusives also didn't help during those summer months.

That said, a 94% increase in hardware is still remarkable even considering the conditions. Q2 for MS will be more interesting as that will be going against a holiday season that had the XBO-X (499 USD) and XBO-S Minecraft edition (399 USD).

SB
