MGS4 to debut tonight

Footage from first PS3 Metal Gear to be shown at Sony conference.

Metal Gear Solid 4 footage will be publicly shown tonight for the first time ever, gamesradar.com can reveal.

Clips from the game will be shown at Sony Computer Entertainment America's pre-E3 press conference, which takes place in Culver City, Los Angeles at 11pm (UK time).

As we revealed back in March, the game will be released for as-yet-unspecified next-generation consoles, although today's news suggests that the game will debut on PlayStation 3.

The game will be the first that isn't produced by Metal Gear mastermind Hideo Kojima, who is moving on to another next-gen project (details of which are also expected to be announced at tonight's Sony event).

We're in LA at this very moment and will be reporting live from tonight's Sony and Microsoft conferences, which will be closely followed by tomorrow's Nintendo shindig.

Expect an avalanche of news, analysis, screenshots, photos and - yes - footage direct from sunny California over the coming week..

Less than 9 hours. And Kojima-san had already stated that the new MGS would be handle by the young guns. But I'm still crossing my finger he'd change his minds like he did last time.

I just completed Metal Gear Solid 3 about 30 minutes ago...

I suppose my biggest anticipation goes to anything MGS related, though I must say I am quite sceptical knowing Hideo Kojima won't be on board. I hope they don't ruin the series... MGS1 to MGS2 were some of the best games I've ever played (IMO) and MGS3 topped that in every imaginable way for me.

MGS2 on PS2, i must have played it 6-7 times but MGS3 i have yet to play a second time. But i agree it was a phenomenal "finish" or how you would say to top the PS2-era, just awesome.
And while thoghts are on PS3 of course there are so many games coming to the PS2 that i want to play and will keep me busy until it launches, both old and new i may add.
