X-bit Labs report that Matrox is apparently developing a 90nm GPU using the memory interface and controller IP of Mosaid Memorize.
As mentioned in the X-bit Labs piece, none of Matrox's "current" designs comply with Windows Vista Premium (SM2.0) requirements. Is this likely to be a baseline Parhelia revamp for Vista Premium compliance or might Matrox pursue something a bit more ambitious (<=SM4.0?), albeit in low-end form?[...] “Mosaid Memorize IP was the best choice to meet specific price-performance targets we set for future 90nm graphics processing units,” said David Chiappini, director of ASIC engineering, Matrox. “Mosaid’s complete solution allowed us to reduce risk and time to market through the use of proven third party IP, allowing us to complement our own memory interface specialists and tape out more products in a shorter period of time”.
