Just looked at the PS3 preorder DVD...

It's pretty lame. Just a few pics, the same simple spec sheet we've seen before with listings of ports etc. No clock speeds listed for Cell or RSX, so you conspiracy theorists spin up your rumor mills and fuel them with new ravings about dropped specs, etc. ;)

Oh, and a bunch of game videos too. They are quicktime encoded, which sucks. I had to go install quicktime... >.<

Lair looked 100% realtime IMO, considering the resampling of video (some frames were obviously merged into two after encoding, thus causing extra blurring.) Warhawk was disappointingly short, and LAME. Saw scenes/vids that were 100x more impressive from after E3. Not checked out the other videos yet. Will do so later.

Are you seriously considering purchasing one when they come out? I'm personally gonna hold off for at least the first price cut.

Well, like thread title says, it's the PREORDER disc, which means I got it after having preordered a unit. So YES, I am getting it, on day one despit that it's danged expensive.

I got N64 on premier day too, as well as 360 and DS Lite... :D

The hardware looks great on the few included pics on the disc, despite they're nowhere near high resolution. I hope the final units really are THAT slick and shiny-looking, because the pics look like they've been coated with several layers of clear car laquer to enhance the sheen. :)

What country is this in? Is there any Resident Evil 5 things on the disc?

It's only available in some EU countries, as far as I've heard. Guden is a Swede, I think...?

Shouldn't be any RE5 stuff on the disc -- won't be seeing that until TGS, most likely (mid september, not far).

All the trailers are on Playsyde - some of them were linked in individual threads earlier:

http://www.playsyde.com/news_3319_en.html

They're all nice quality, 720p. Lair does not look realtime to me - the IQ and the lighting etc. looks very offline IMO. Maybe some assets are from the game, though.

F1 looks nicer than I remembered. Heavenly Sword is the E3 trailer, but spliced with commentary from Andy Serkis's main character. The others are either the E3 trailers, or 'remixed' versions featuring similar content.

So Guden, is there anything new we haven't seen in other trailers?
I seriously doubt that, it looks like regurgitated videos of what's already been divulged. In fact when it comes to Warhawk specifically, the video shows very little compared to what you can find on the web for example - and little of what is really impressive of that title, IE the roaming free-flying stuff. And no, there is no RE5 video either.

Lair looked incredible in that trailer. I will be extremely impressed if the game really looks like that.

But the fire effect looks just too good to be realtime. I would love to be proven wrong though.

I pre-ordered too, had to pay 1000 Norwegian krones which is approximately 120€
Ye gods! Poor guy, I plunked down a reservation fee of SKR300, which ought to be roughly NOK270, or US$42...

On the other hand, with NOK1000 already paid, you only have to come up with a considerably smaller sum than originally to be able to pay the full price. :D

I dunno if that fire effect really is so super, if you could study it at your own pace I'm sure it wouldn't look all that impossible to do. It just flashes by in the trailer, so it's bound to make a bigger impact just because of it...

I watched it repeatedly over and over many times, and it looks like multiple stacked and individually stretched, alphablended textures to me. Probably animated using a particle system that may or may not involve some kind of fluid mechanic simulation to get the 'fire' to flow in a more lifelike manner. Or it could just be done with fakery; in any case it sure looks good, but I am entirely convinced it is 100% realtime.

We have to remember, Factor5 has ALWAYS been very competent on a technical level, and it seems they've been working on nothing else than this for years by now. We should extend them some professional courtesy, methinks. :)

Yup, that is true;-) Although I have to admit, I did not really have those 1000 right now.
Are there any net shops in Sweden offering preorders with suggested prices yet? At komplett.no, it's NOK5499 at the moment.

Yep,
Discshop has it listed at 5999 SEK
SIBA has it listed at 5890 SEK
On Off has it listed at 5890 SEK (200 SEK deposit)
Komplett.se has it listed at 6295 SEK

I pre-ordered mine at Discshop, so I'll get a free Blu-Ray movie with my console, The Da Vinci Code. ;)
Still waiting for the pre-order disc, maybe I'll get it on Tuesday.
