Apparantly this project goes under the name of Deepsea Challenge. There's a website about it here, with some interesting stuff to read and look at.
It's going to be real interesting when they start releasing videos and more information about any discoveries made during the voyage. For example, Cameron's sub is equipped with 3D cameras and a ~2.5 meters tall LED light array, so that distances and the scale of objects seen in the resulting video can be determined.
