GC E3 movies...RE4...Metroid Prime2...StarFox2...and more

RE4 is easily among the most visually impressive games at E3. Rogue Squadron 3 and Halo 2 are other standouts as well.

I've only seen some pretty crap videos of RE4.

What I've seen though it could have quite the impressive engine. I wouldn't compare any of the games that you were just comparing, way different styles there.

OK after dloading almost every movie so far I'm gonn say something that might get me in some debate...RE4 > Doom3. There I said it. I'm just dumbfounded that this is Cube running this thing and not some next gen machine. The visuals are just sick. And the environments are amazingly detailed for 3D. Can't wait.

The engine looks nice, but I feel its greatest 'Oomph' is in its art assets. And really, for a 'bet the farm' game like RE4 thats been in development for eons, it should be :) Anything less would be.. well, earth shattering :p

I just some MGS:TS pics....I want to play this game....can we have a GC emulator please??

A NGC doesn't cost that much, and is worth its price, considering all the good games already released and upcoming, Rogue Leader, Pikmin, Zelda, Metriod Prime, RE, Starfox Adventures, Luigi's mansion, SSMB, Eternal Darkness, Super Mario Sunshine; RE4, Rebel Strike, MGS:TS, Pikmin2, Metroid Prime2, FF:Crystal Chronicles...

... and considering that there should be some kind of *buy a gamecube get 78 games free* offer around....

MGS:TS is looking pretty rough, Matt from IGN claims its because the textures are placeholders right from the PSX version, I hope he isnt just saying to to excuse it.

This plus FFCC, finally some RPG goodness outside SOAL and Zelda.

ZELDA IS NOT AN RPG! *fumes*

*ahem* now that I've cooled off and watched the ToS videos...

Looks great. But watching the fighting, I can't help but think of one thing... "Grandia without the IP guage"

I love the atmosphere in FFCC and that boat scene is soo cool reminds me of Ys. Also Starfox Armada looks really cool and fun hehe 4 player splits screen too haha. Namco and SEGA both did excellent work on SFA and FZX respectively.

Tag: Damn, give the guy a break! It's kind of hard to categorize Zelda since it has so many gameplay elements. :)

Tag, would you rather I say GameCube has no RPGs worth mentioning?

To me Zelda has always been categorized as an action/rpg. Of course I know its greater than just that, its just words. What the hell else do you want me to call it. I don't have the strength to write paragraph after paragraph about the greatness of Zelda. My 2000 page dissertation on the subject is not yet complete. I just mentioned it because its the closest thing to an RPG on the GC unless I really had to break down and mention second tier titles like Lost Kingdom (which is a decent enough card battle game).

So emm, can I get some mercy. Even Nintendo lists it under its RPG section:

http://www.nintendo.com/games/specific_category.jsp?genreId=8

so what the hell do you want from me? screw this crap, not worth the hassle.

Just saw the direct feed trailer.

I doubt it.. the game is set to ship in >6 months - definitely not enough time to redo all the artwork.

The textures are adequete for a next-gen system, but nothing great.. that said, they do fit into this generation though, definitely not from the PSX version... if you fire up MGS on the PS2 and enable "texture smoothing" and such, you'll see that they are in no way from the same source.

I expect its just a shovel-ported MGS2 engine.. from the looks of it they yoinked oodles of MGS2 art as well.

I'm liking the cinematics though :D

But seriously, WTF is with the graphic designer for Konami's new trailers??? "Nurser of the Game Culture?" "Nonpariel Genius Creator?" Since when was Engrish something to be proud of? I smell a pink slip...! :p (and yes, i get the 'NGC' thing.. hurrah! Someone who doesn't use the akward 'GCN'!)

Nintendo used to classify Zelda correctly, as Action / Adventure.

Zelda hardly has any RPG elements at all.

And no, I'd rather you didn't say GCN has no RPG's worth mentioning, becuase you're forgetting one BIG one - PSOe1&2.

Yes, GCN is RPG-starved, but it does have a couple of great ones. (go sega!)

There's some new MGS.TTS shots up at Nintendo E3 websites I thought you guys would like to see. I would like to post them here, but I don't know how because their shown threw Macromedia or Flash.

Here's a link.
http://www.nintendo.com/e32k3/games/konami_metalgearsolid_44b/metalgear_feat.jsp

They look pretty nice and seems to look alot smootherin these pics. And another thing I'd like to mention is there is a interview up at Nphiles with Hideo Kojima about the Remake and he mentions bump-mapping being easier to get on the Gamecube so we could possibly be seeing some in MGS.TTS. I don't know though, I hope so.

I hope they add bumpmapping in MGS:TTS because MGS2 looks really flat.

OMG, have you guys downloaded those Tales of Symphonia videos? It's sooo cool. It looks almost exactly like how a Ys game would be in 3d. The music is very Ys too. :D
