Gaming against overweight - new Dutch research

Researched by a respected Dutch research institute (TNO) commissioned by the city government of Eindhoven (translated from nu.nl):

Of the researched games (Xerbike, Lasersquash, Apartgame, Dance Dance Revolution, EyeToy, Wii) particularly the Xerbike, Lasersquash and Apartgame cause very intensive physical stress. Dance Dance Revolution leads to sufficient stress to meet NNGB criteria. The kids themselves liked the following game devices best in the following order: Lasersquash, de Apartgame and Wii.

Yeah DDR defenitly helps. A mate of mine was pretty heavy and almost became skinny after he started playing DDR

Or, of course, when you yourself are too fat to move. Number one cause of fat children is fat parents, I think

In which case yes, take your kid to the park and get some exercise yourself.

Of course, there are also climates that don't make going outside all that practical.
