I found
Q: How will Futuremark enforce these new rules?
A: We have internal tools and resources with which we will test new drivers against the guidelines.
We will maintain a list of drivers we have determined to be in accordance with the guidelines. We will
publish detailed description of this process including actions when violations have been discovered.
And we wanna know what about nVidia latest drivers Forceware 53.03!
If these drivers have 3dmark03 specific optimization and violations,
why not publish detailed description of this process including actions ?
And if not, why are not Forceware 53.03 approved by Futuremark?
What the hecks going on?

Well, let's see:
"Motherboards.org uses 53.03 benching 3dm2k3?!?"
"nVidia's 53.03 and 52.16 drivers in 3dMark2003"
"Future Confusion"
"Futuremark has problems here."
"Futuremark,its time to take action."

Now that's just here. Also, there's 'Future Confusion', EB article on 3dm2k3 I started over at Futuremark's forum, and "Future Confusion" over at nVnews. (Yeah, I was pimping Hanners "Future Confusion" article over on Elite Bastards a bit...but only because I thought it was important and good.)

Heck, if you need me to I'll find more....I was just checking the ones that have been active the last couple of days. :)

They have optimizations. The Catalyst 3.10's and 4.1's got in immediately, so putting two and two together = "optimizations in 53.03"

We've already seen a number of rounds of website-screaming and cross-PR FUD-storms, so we already know what the results of publicizing the matter are. (It's already gotten enough silliness from the warning letters to reviewers sent out, but didn't get too out of hand.) Futuremark is also a relatively small company by comparison to the 800lb gorilla that nVidia represents, so I fully imagine they are attempting to work things out behind the scenes in a way that won't result in a huge eruption and "irreconcilable differences" Abit-style.

And while many of the community would support them if they bring all the information fully to light, many of the community has already turned from anger at nVidia's cheating when things first came to light, to anger at FM or apathy at the whole situation even though said situation hasn't changed--just become less obvious. Meanwhile, NO other company--synthetic benchmark nor game developer--has seen fit to take a stand or even express themselves in ANY way on how IHV's treat their programs either, despite there being much shinnanigans going on other places as well. (Well, other than Valve--but they have their own problems to deal with.) Which means no mutual assistance from the software development companies either, so...

What on Earth would YOU do?

As of the 9th of december that is all the drivers ( since the start of the verification program ) that has been validated.

If a driver did not pass then you should contact the driver make and ask them to disclose the information.

Waaaa, waaaaa, waaaaaaaa. That big bully nvidia is making fun of me and stealing my lunch money. Just because FM might have to fight alone that means it should not fight? I swear they act like they are french.

Over the last couple years nvidia has been getting it's face smashed in by the competition. And FM is still too chicken-shit to take them on? IMO anyone that supports the current FM course of action are spineless ethicly devoid drones.

This is not to take any attention away from the real problem (nvidia).

Anyone ever told you that you are very quotable ByteMe? 8)

Chill out, ditwad. Do you reply in any other fashion than by going straight to 5th gear and burning out your transmission? I'd rather they do as well--as I've said before--but then I have nothing personal at stake in the situation. I'm neither a company trying to keep projects useful nor working on future ones. I'm not trying to present a benchmarking package that can only work with the support of the major IHV's--like the API itself it tests. And as much as I might like it, I've found that--gasp!--no company does things strictly for my benefit, or can afford to adhere to pure moral standards without thinking of the financial repercussions. (I suppose I could hold them to my standards, but I'd pretty much have to get annoyed at every product and program out there at some level.)

I said how I can understand THEIR unwillingness to butt heads directly, especially in the current environment. Do you seriously see it doing a lot of good except for your personal satisfaction? I can still be annoyed at the situation, but I keep my eye firmly on the disease, not the symptoms.

Meanwhile, please refrain from trying to live up to your nickname and post as if you're past your early teens.

I have nothing personal at steak either, except for the bad taste in my mouth whenever Nvidia, FM, or [H] is mentioned. Sympathize all you want, but that does not change what is RIGHT or WRONG.

FM has taken action that will but them in history as a insignificant benchmark company. This is too bad, they had potential.

And I'll consider stop posting as if I am "past my early teens" if you stop being as useful as a sheep in a crisis.

<shrugs> I can't change their minds, though. Same as I can't change the minds of a pissload of people who've decided that though every area of the tech industry operates off synthetic benchmarks, somehow they are utterly useless in regards video games. Nor, seemingly, the benchmark sites who've kept up with the situation NOT AT ALL, but feel qualified to write an editorial. Nor the link-sites that follow the first volley of a confrontation, but never seem inclined to pursue it to the end (even when given direct links). Nor the reviewers and tech-pundits who let their particular biases cloud proper examination of the situation.

Granted I go after them ANYWAY, but in the whole scheme of things, I have many more targets to hit first. ;)

I've never ate steak while nVidia's ever been mentioned, so I dont know about the bad taste in the mouth ;)
