From the rumour section

- "On the bright side, despite rampant internet speculation, Metal Gear Solid 4 is still exclusive to Sony's machine."

So what's happened to...?
Some familiar faces seem to be missng from 2007's radar...

"3) Bioshock
This incredible looking undersea adventure has slipped off the PS3 release schedule and is currently slated as a 360 exclusive. But we reckon that translates to 'out a bit later.'
Going to happen in 2007?
Almost definitely
[Note: Those spoony bards also put the Ken Levine gameplay walkthrough on the DVD]"

Just to finish off, one little tidbit from their '2007 Heaven' feature, documenting some of the big titles expected in... 2007.

Dont tell me they are still following the mistranslation about DMC3

Its funny that a PSM magazine has Gears as a back cover and refers to DMC3 possibly coming to 360. Its also weird that there was nothing around over the internet about DMC3 rumoredbecoming multiplatform. :p

Usually PSM has the most unrealistic rumors though

Dude, it's PSM.

Let's pull up what the Inquirer is saying today and we'll get a sense of their accuracy. ;)

Got to love that back cover :p :p :devilish: Microsoft certainly have been sneaky recently :)

Shame about fullauto2.. Ohh well

What's so strange about the GOW cover? The publisher of PSM is also the publisher of a whole lot of other magazines, including Xbox and Nintendo focused ones. The publisher decides what to advertise where, MS is paying a whole lot to advertise GOW at the moment so it's understandable that the publishers would try to maximise their profits like that. I would expect a whole back cover is quite expensive to advertise on - and very profitable for the publisher. Who cares if it's an Xbox game and the magazine is Sony-centered, when they make so much money out of it!

Indeed, it's publised by Future Inc, and they are also doing the official Xbox and PS2/3 magazines (at least in UK). As part of their exclusivity contract with both MS and Sony, both get to put free ads on any of the Futurs's mags of their choosing. PSM3 has lots of ads from Xbox games.

Up until their Christmas issue the only non PlayStation related advertisements I've ever seen in PSM3 were for other magazines, clothing, and phone sex lines (sure Xbox and Gamecube games sometimes get advertised by proxy when the game is multiplatorm, but what I'm talking about is an exclusive competing brand advertisement). Just flicking through their October, November, and December issues, every single game related advertisement is for the PS2 or PSP. The Christmas issue had 2 Microsoft adverts on the first 4 pages, one Gears of War and the other a generic 'Jump In' style ad. (I boycotted the Jan edition because of their Zone of the Enders 3 fibs, but...) In the Feb issue depicted above, that is the only non Sony game-product advertised in the magazine.

My point is, if it were standard practice or a common policy to allow competing brands to advertise in a brand specific magazine (even an unofficial one) I would have expected it to be more common. What I think has happened more reflects the sheer budget of the Gears of War advertising campaign. There will likely be a threshold for how much a magazine will accept to advertise 'contentious' products, and I think Microsoft was more than willing to push that limit. In fact, browsing through the Feb issue, there are significantly fewer advertisements than any of the other issues I have at hand.

There's nothing wrong with what they did! I highlighted it because I found it amusing, because as far as I'm aware it's pretty much unprecedented to see that level of advertising in a brand specific magazine. Also it's kinda cute to have the GoW Vs. GoW montage. ;)

The latter might be more at issue..PSM may 'prefer' ads for certain kinds of product, but if it's a tough month, they may not particularly care as long as it's money.

I still remember there being Sega ads for Saturn in the OFFICIAL nintendo magazine in the UK way back when, if I am not mistaken. It was certainly a nintendo-only magazine, and I believe it was the official one. So it's not that unheard of.
