“Finding many discordances, I expressed to my friend the wish that we could calculate by steam for which he assented. 'As within the bounds of possibility'"
-Charles Babbage

This is a TV show created by British BBC and WBGH that tells the history of computing, from Babbage and onwards.

It's a little old, dating from the early 90s, but the production values are very high and the fundamental truths about the rise of computing won't change anyway, as this IS history.

It's a little funny when the presenter mentions that calculating Pi to 707 decimals takes just seven seconds. Well, what is the current SuperPi record right now, around 6 seconds for 1M decimals or somesuch...? Heh.

ANYWAY!
Here's the linkitylink to the five parts (through a Swedish website, but don't mind all of the bork bork bork, the first part is at the top and the rest in descending order downwards: http://www.sweclockers.com/nyhet/10652-dokumentar_maskinen_som_forandrade_varlden ;)
