EA released Command & Conquer source code, making it open source under GPL3! Also added Steam Workshop support

This is a mind blowing move from EA. I wouldn't expect this from them, but yeah, amazing move by EA, for god's sake.

Jim Vesella, an EA executive, is behind this. He totally loves Command & Conquer games. Lately, they took more radical steps to embrace the community of C&C fans.

They released Command & Conquer The Ultimate Collection on Steam a year ago, which I bought, and EA was very happy with it but they wanted the community to be involved.

So shortly after the launch in 2024 they commissioned a community member a veteran of CNC Luke CC hyper, to officially research improvements to the games that they had released on Steam.

They gave him full access to the entire Command and Conquer archive at EA and Luke proposed a couple ambitious ideas on behalf of the community and over the past year he's devoted himself to these initiatives now.
