Do you think the PS3 will be able to run Mugen (the 2d mix and match fighting game)?

Since I found out about the PS3's ability to accept user based content and PC mods (like for UT2K7) I've been wondering if it will be possible to run Mugen on it. Is it?

(For those who don't know, Mugen is a customisable 2d fighting engine on PCs that combines characters from different games. )

The pics over 800x600 are not allowed on this forum. Since you're new, I suggest you read the sticky Forum FAQ in the console forum!

I am no expert on this matter but I'd take my chances and say most likely, unless...;)

Thats as far as my limited knowledge takes me.

Yes.

The Linux distro has everything you need to make that kind of game fly on PS3.

Mugen has already been ported to the PSP, so I don't see much standing in the way of porting it to PS3. ;) (Google "Mugen PSP"). It's been ported somewhere in March already though I think and I don't know if there's been an update with the latest Mugen stuff, but anyway, yeah, PS3 Mugen and similar stuff is going to be a piece of cake.

I personally can't wait to read out the sixaxis controller and see what I can do with that. :)

Also I found it very interesting to see the structure of the Enlightenment desktop, which seems very powerful and clever and is very relevant the Beyond3d development project that I've been working on, but more about that in it's own thread.

As others said, absolutely.

In related news, the Kenta Cho games on PS3 will rock. Most even support widescreen!

[edit]
Eh, laughed too soon, many are written in D. But I think I read something about a gcc D frontend recently...

[edit2]
I read up on it, seems like the GDC D compiler supports Linux/PPC targets. Shouldn't be too far from PS3.
