Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 [XBSX|S, PC, PS5, XGP] F/JRPG

Hurrah for Gamepass!
There are too many games. I'm having trouble keeping up!
this girl is very similar to a girl which is a friend of mine in her late twenties called Sonia. It's like the teenager version of her except for the red hair -the aforementioned girl has a brownish hair-.
COE33 is an asset flip of your life.

hmm looks like the dev team here

yeah those are the 33 developers of the game. The actual photo can be seen online, I've seen in a youtube channel. They are ex-Ubisoft employees. 33 heroes without a cape that started to make this game in the middle of the pandemic 5 years ago.

Maybe they all have 33 years, they'd love to have a 33rd of april to launch the game while having their laptops and mobile phones battery running at 33% of battery.

they’ve done a great job at making this game feel like a JRPG, while at the same time making it feel like Elden Ring, at the same time having this well made story about characters and the cutscenes and dialog are up there with some of the best AAA games.

I’m finally far enough to start upgrading weapons!

lol I’m not seeing a strong reason to invest points into anything other than vitality. lol. My first 10 levels all vit so far. I just started playing around with defence and agility now. See no value to might unless there are requirements to use weapons.

I know right! It melds together so many ideas wonderfully executed. It's a breath of fresh air. When I'm not playing this game, I'm thinking about it lol. Been a while since a game has had me so invested.

The cool thing about what you've said is that the game does a great job of allowing you to tune the characters towards your play style. For people that are amazing at parrying and dodging, they can buff other attributed to deal maximum damage and speed. For those who can't, they can put more into defense and vitality. You can turn characters into party buff machines and AOE forces of nature and everything in between.

It must be said, hitting a big string on parries, and then doing full team counter attack to kill a big enemy or boss feels INCREDIBLE! I've felt like a badass so many times so far in this game. Getting to an enemy or area where you very clearly shouldn't be at yet, and brute force killing some enemies from skill alone feels so damn good.

I'm very impressed so far. Only nagging things are that the environment traversal and platforming is definitely a bit janky, and it has some typical traversing stuttering issues with this engine (no shader comp issues from what I've played though which is great!). Also, on PC anyway, Lyall's ClairObscurFIX is a must. The developers are working on improving/fixing Ultrawide support, but this mod fixes UW support completely. Fixes the FOV, fixes CGI movies being pillar boxed, and unlocks the 30fps cutscene FPS.

Hopefully the devs continue to polish the game up, because regardless of the issues, this is definitely on track to be my GOTY.

I can’t see a way where the game can be completed without dodging or parrying. These bosses have long hit strings that you’re eventually bound to take some hits. Without enough VIT it could be a one shot easily.

But yea. Now that I have 30 VIT on all my characters now I’m pushing into agility has the bonus of both attack speed and defense? Once again, don’t see value in might. Just upgrade your weapon and 40+ attack points of damage is worth 13 level ups.

I'm not sure where you're at... but yea ahahah you definitely do need to dodge, but the right stats for a players skill level or playstyle can help you survive missing a couple hits instead of dying right away.

And yea lol, I'd say there are long hit strings... and if you're like I was in thinking 5 was a lot... I've got news for ya

there's an enemy which does what is basically a 60 hit combo.. LOL 😵😵‍💫💀

lol. Haha yea 5 string is already very long. I actually suck really bad at dodging. Parrying is slower but the timing is so different from dodging you’re better learning one way or the other. Learning both seems to be messing with my head.

The other thing I am noticing is the like of agility these bosses (optional) are attacking 2-3 times before I can attack once. So on top of a long attack chain, they are doing like 3 of them before I get to even go.

So that’s why I’ve been all about the VIT and now AGI.

Haha.. yea you may run into trouble when bosses are doing double and triple turns on you because you've got no agility. I've put a lot of points into might and agility. I like getting more turns to build up AP quicker with speed and using attacks which slow enemies, along with status effect damage such as burn that does damage to enemies after their turns.. and then just parrying/dodging like a beast. I'm a big Souls genre player, so this feels great to me .

also, comparing it to some AAA games that cost more than 240 millions of dollars, for instance Assassin's Creed Shadows, the graphics are equal or maybe better and this game could cost... 20$ millions to make?

this is maybe the highest Metacritic score by the users on any videogame to date.
