C2D E4300 @ 2.4-ish

I got the fry's special today(E4300 + MB for $159), applied the BSEL mod, and bang: 2.4Ghz on a nominally 1.8Ghz chip. Of course, I did need to buy memory also, so it really cost me $350.

I tried overclocking to 2.7GHz, but the cheap-o MB that comes with the package can't raise the voltage, and its not stable at stock voltage.

Anyways, I'm pretty pleased with this. I sillily bought a 4000+ (single core) recently for $80. This is worth more than twice that.

And now..my computer will sit idle 200% faster.

EDIT: after http://www.beyond3d.com/forum/showpost.php?p=939420&postcount=10 I'm not feeling so special. ;)

Motherboard is very important in C2D overclocks. I hit 3.2GHz easy (and higher) without voltage changes of any kind on my E6300, but I have a Gigabyte 965P-DS3 which cost about the same as your CPU+MB bundle. You get what you pay for as of right now in motherboards, or at least last I payed real attention.

Either way, at 2.4Ghz any C2D is flying.
