Blocking sites in WinXP?

Is there an easy and free way to block specific websites from being surfed on a computer? e.g. a business wants to lock out sports sites (or B3D! ). Is there a way to block and unblock those sites on a PC (Windows XP Pro)? Just basic control to filter specific sites. I looked at some (not all) of the porn filter apps at CNET but they were more geared toward a catch all and did not seem to allow the basic function of "block/unblock domain.com" and this business does not need a porn blocker specifically. Just job unrelated sites mainly like msnbc, cnn, espn, etc. Productivity killing sites basically. An non invasive app is necessary.

Ps- I am sure if my wife saw this she would secretly add B3D to it while I slept hehehe

I'd set up a content filtering proxy and route all connections through that. Should be easy enough to get going, and there's lots of options variyng from free to very expensive.

AddBlock extension in Firefox has "Site Blocking" option.... among many others....
i am not sure what are you looking for... but if you are looking for easy control of blocking content... AddBlock is way to go....

As Baron says the simplest way would be to add the enteries to your Windows hosts file that is found in C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\ It's a plain text file with no extension that can be edited with any text editors. Just block the site by redirecting it's domain to locahost's IP which is 127.0.0.1

ie. to block this site you would add a new line to the hosts file reading:

127.0.0.1 www.beyond3d.com

See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hosts_file for more info.
