now Karl Jobst got into real trouble because he lost a lawsuit against Billy Mitchell. Basically, apart from acknowledging that Billy Mitchell is a cheater and constantly talk about it, he also accused him of being the main culprit and the reason why a speedrunner and youtuber, Apollo Legend, took his own life.... This put Karl Jobst into a lot of financial pressure for him and his family.

Moral: Never be a cheater. It can ruin other people's life.

This is absolutely not good. On one hand Karl could have kept silent. On the other it's messed up that Mitchell essentially wins on something tangential.

Karl Jobst wasn't very smart I think. It's not his war. I don't follow him, but I know Karl Jobst from his youtube videos on world records and stuff and what I didn't like was his grandiose style that sound like a lot of normal thing changed "the world of videogames forever", or "changed videogames forever", etc etc.

In that sense, I really love SummoningSalt, but that's another story. Point is that Karl Jobst could handle things in a better way instead of getting into a feud with a guy who has no morals nor scruples.

He's playing YouTube game. I don't blame people for going with the algo if the meat and potatoes are there (and IMO Karl tends to deliver interesting stuff).

well, from what I understant now, after reading the comments of the Reddit thread, Karl Jobst was asking for donations in his videos for the trial, so people were paying his legal fees but Jobst wasn't telling the truth to his audience and misled them saying that all of that was about Billy's cheating, something that he'd won because it was true, when it was actually about defamation saying that Billy Mitchell caused the suicide of Apollo.

I think this was from the very start a defamation case but I'm not sure whether he was telling the truth about the nature of defamation. I know he suggested that people look up the case files themselves but pretty much nobody does that.

this video kinda sums it up. There are quite a few videos commenting on the final verdict and what happened.
