Any Advice for Cheap Flights

Well, I wanted to fly to Madrid from Indianapolis in May to see my girlfriend. I looked on Expedia, and damned if I didn't find a bunch of tickets for between $540 and $600! So I called her, chatted a bit, and when I looked at the price, the same tickets were at $900!!!

So does anyone know what happened? Does anyone know any tricks to get rock-bottom airfares? I can't afford an $800 ticket, but if I can get one close to $600, that'd be great.

Prices vary a lot from day to day. Also keep trying to change your exact dates of travel, as that can have a huge effect on the price. I flew to Seattle last week, and if I changed either of the days, it would have been about 50% more expensive. The same principle probably applies here.

Also try different sites. Travelocity and Orbitz are what I've had by far the best luck with, so...
