For those of you who do not read Gizmodo regularly where I noticed this being posted, this is some seriously retro ****! Having just watched this video, one recognizes that so much of it still applies today. The basic production technique is still the same, even if the integration level and scale of the wafers differ greatly.
Some bits are obsolete, like packaging tech, wire wrapping still being used, and the way ICs are still very basic in nature, but other parts of this video hugely foreshadows the very automated picker/placer assembly tech used in modern electronics manufacturing. It feels rather creepy actually - to me, anyway!
