For best results, watch the video presentation, then go into the forum and read the Q&As.

My apologies if this has already been posted, but if so, I didn't see it.

From watching the presentation and reading the forum, it does seem to me to be a very effective way to avoid needing a lot of texture RAM. The only drawback seems to be the initial drawing stage that you use to figure out what textures you will need. If you are already doing something like deferred rendering, that might be close to free, though.
