I made the jump. 38” IPS 175Hz to 34” QD-OLED 240Hz. Slight downgrade in resolution from 3840x1600 to 3440x1440. Same PPI so haven’t noticed the difference in resolution or size. Text rendering is a million times better on the IPS though. The fringing is terrible on the OLED and gives me a headache, hopefully I get used to it. Tried toggling clear type on and off and it didn’t help.
Pics taken in sRGB mode ~120 nits on both monitors. Not sure why the OLED looks so saturated in sRGB. Still playing with settings. Have only tried Far Cry 5 in HDR so far with paper white set to 140 nits and it looks amazing. Lights actually look like lights at night! And of course contrast and black level in both SDR and HDR are fantastic. The IPS can’t actually show the color “black” and is a pale gray at best. Paid $1600 for the IPS 3 years ago and $700 for the OLED. Overall happy with the switch.
